Here is what’s on offer

There will be four short and punchy sessions (each one just 15 minutes long), covering a range of relevant and interesting topics to help business owners just like you.

Tim Rylatt

2020 was a tough year, and 2021 has started the same.

However, as the Spring approaches and news reports start to tell a story of hope rather than desperation, a degree of confidence is returning to the business world. The latest financial forecasts indicate a strong economic recovery by the end of 2021, and growth-minded business owners are not starting to explore their options for attacking the market more than survival and defensive measures.

During his presentation, award winning business coach Tim Rylatt will be sharing:

  • Top tips for effectively targeting growth post-pandemic.
  • The factors that hold some business owners back
  • What a positive growth plan needs to include

Based on his new book (co-authored with Henry Laker from Growth by Design – another speaker at this event), Tim will share some modern concepts to help you get your business ahead of the rest in the coming months!

Henry Laker

Shall we put 2020 behind us and start looking at what 2021 ‘could’ bring us instead?

Last year was somewhat character building for many businesses, and for some, that would be putting it mildly! Business owners’ mindset was focused on surviving the challenging marketplace and ensuring they did what they could to protect their position. None of us started our businesses with the sole aim to just make it to through to the next month though, did we? A year of merely ‘getting by’ is enough surely. For the positive-minded business owner, now is the time to put the fearful desperation of 2020 behind us and start embracing the opportunity that exists in 2021.

During his presentation, Henry Laker, from the award-winning marketing agency, Growth by Design, will be sharing:

  • How to stop guessing if your website is post-pandemic fit
  • What ‘getting by’ marketing looks like and why it doesn’t work
  • What does a competition-beating marketing plan look like?

Just like physical health, mental health continues to be at risk from the pandemic. The aftershock is expected to last for some time. One crucial way to protect mental health and well-being is to manage stress. A key element to stress management is planning, even for the unknown. 2020 has shown that an updated crisis management plan is essential in any business.

Thankfully, not everything is a guessing game and there are some employment related changes planned for this year that we already know about. So to help you achieve goal number one of stressing less, we will be giving you a head start by getting ahead with your HR admin.

  • Employment Law changes and priorities for 2021
  • Brexit and the EU settlement scheme
  • Planning for the end of furlough
  • IR35- delayed for a year due to Coronavirus, new rules regarding IR35 come into effect on 6th April
  • National Minimum Wage – make sure you budget for the increase
  • The Employment Bill – an update on other pressing employment issues

Aims of the session:

  • To give employers a head start on their HR Admin for 2020
  • Understand the options available after Furlough
  • A brief update on forthcoming legislative changes

Real Time Accounting: The New Normal

We keep hearing about “The New Normal”, my presentation will cover what this means for your accounting affairs. COVID-19 has driven many businesses to change the way they operate, in many cases it has accelerated transformations that were previously put on the “back burner”. This includes changes in remote working practices and implementing new software to give real time information to business owners.

Businesses and accountants are inextricably linked. No viable/growing business can afford to be without an accountant when there are tough trading conditions. There’s a fundamental requirement and need for business owners to have reliable financial forecasts and real-time data about revenue, profitability and cashflows during times like these. Let’s face it when the pandemic started did you ask yourself, will my company survive or will I be able to pay my staff at the end of the month? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, then you need to consider if you should adopt a new accounting system or some additional services from your accountant rather than normal compliance work. With real time information you can look to get ahead of competitors as the UK begins its recovery from the COVID Pandemic.

Aims of the session:

  • Identifying if you require additional services
  • Assessing if your systems/staff are giving you the information you need to make informed decisions
  • What advantages do other systems/software platforms offer?
