Tim Rylatt is a highly experienced business coach who has worked with more than 200 companies during the past 15 years. He is also the author of 3 books that address the topics of sales skills, strategic marketing, and business growth.

Unlike many coaches, Tim is also a business owner himself, as a director in two marketing agencies, as well as his own coaching firm (which is now also a franchise).

Henry Laker, Growth by Design

Henry’s presentation will teach business owners how opportunity is so often lost to the competition and how to change it to skyrocket results. He will also show which marketing strategies should be prioritised and how they can fuel business growth when done correctly. Henry’s presentation will cover:

  • Why businesses often don't get anywhere near as many leads as they could
  • The difference between marketing activity and planned marketing strategy
  • What marketing to choose that will aid business growth and sustain it

Henry is a highly experienced business owner and has been heading up businesses within the print, design and digital marketing sector for nearly 25 years.

He is known for being entertaining, direct, and creative, with a huge passion for results-driven marketing.

In 2018, the marketing agency he founded with co-director Tim Rylatt won the ‘Best New Business award for the Gatwick Diamond Area and most recently the award for Most Impactful SME Marketing Agency – South East 2023. 

During this time he has worked with hundreds of companies to help refine their brand presentation, lead generation, customer lifetime values and reputations. He has also co-authored two books on the subjects of marketing and business growth with Tim Rylatt.

Alison Deighton, HelloDPO Law

Having the right legal framework and protections in place in your business means you can grow and scale with confidence there won’t be anything to slip you up! In Alison’s presentation she will discuss:

  • How to build a simple data protection governance framework
  • Refresher on core GDPR requirements
  • Practical guidance on what you need to do to stay on the right side of the law!

Alison is one of the co-founders of HelloDPO and is a trusted privacy adviser. Alison guides clients through complex privacy problems finding practical solutions that meet business and compliance needs.

Alison has particular expertise advising on overseas transfers of data, including advising on EU and UK BCR applications. Alison also supports businesses with managing significant data breaches, making regulatory reports and advising on remediation actions. She also regularly advises on contractual matters, negotiating and drafting data processing agreements for both controllers and processors.

On the compliance side, Alison helps clients to design and implement privacy governance programmes and provides mentoring to DPOs and others starting their privacy careers.

Alison is a member of the IAPP and holds the CIPP/E certification.

Joel Fielder, Switchplane

Joel founded Switchplane, an Eastbourne-based software development company,  with his brother, Tom, in 2003. As CEO, his focus is more on the commercial side of the business, though he still enjoys writing code on a daily basis too!

Switchplane specialises in building custom apps and web platforms to bring about meaningful change for businesses across the UK. They have grown from a couple of desks in a converted garage to a successful, firmly established SME with a team of 14.

Emma Marsland, Plummer Parsons

Emma’s presentations are always insightful and practical, helping you get the most out of your financial information (and accountant!) to generate growth and opportunity – and this presentation will be no different! Emma will be covering:

  • Management of cash resources
  • Forecasting and financing your growth
  • How to identify profitable areas of the business

Emma takes care of a portfolio of clients at Plummer Parsons, providing a full range of support from personal and corporate clients with annual accounts and tax compliance to regular monthly management accounts with business advice and support.

She has considerable experience in Sage Line 50, providing clients with telephone assistance as well as personal training sessions. Emma is a certified user of Xero and QuickBooks online and will guide clients through the benefits that cloud based solutions can bring to your business.

With purpose-built and modern meeting rooms, that have views across the seafront and beach, The View Hotel offers great service alongside a great location.

Please be aware there is no dedicated parking at the hotel. There is limited on-street parking (availability and time allowed!) so we would recommend parking at the nearby NCP car park or equivalent.

The Chaseley Trust is a unique, independent charity-owned, 55-bed nursing home.  They specialise in long-term nursing and respite care for people with complex disabilities, such as Acquired and Traumatic Brain Injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and degenerative neurological conditions such as Huntington’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone and Parkinson’s disease.
